“We were inspired by Jackie's vision for the future of Portland's culinary scene,” says PCA President Diane Morgan. “Jackie's professional goal of minimizing food waste comes from her personal experiences growing up in Southern Appalachia and working in restaurants in Portland. We are proud to support her culinary path and partner with OCI.”
According to Jackie, "through my education I've learned what a vital role culinarians play in the food system, the environment, and the health of the public. We have more power than we think. My dream is to propel this movement of food utilization forward."

About Oregon Culinary Institute
OCI’s founders have been part of the Portland food scene collectively for more than 50 years. Both had a dream of starting a culinary institute that puts the students first. And that’s exactly what they did. Oregon Culinary Institute opened in 2006 with a team of like-minded restaurant industry and education professionals operating the school in a fair and ethical way, offering an education designed to enable graduates to immediately enter the workforce. OCI, a division of Pioneer Pacific College, remains Portland’s only independent and locally owned college-level culinary school. For more information, visit www.oregonculinaryinstitute.com.
