2017 Scholarship Award Recipient
Tyson Dieter
Plans to Help Veterans After Graduation from OCI

Celebrating its 30th year supporting current and future culinary professionals, the Portland Culinary Alliance announced its first annual Oregon Culinary Institute Scholarship. This annual $1,000 scholarship award is open to all students at OCI who submit a letter of application to be reviewed by the PCA Scholarship Review Board. The 2017 scholarship recipient is Washington native Tyson Dieter, an army veteran, husband and father of two.

“We were inspired by Tyson’s career move from the US Army’s 101st Airborne to his decision to return to school at Oregon Culinary Institute and pursue his passion for a culinary degree,” says PCA President Diane Morgan. “Tyson hopes to form an organization to help support and connect veterans and service members through culinary workshops and training and we are proud to support his culinary path and partner with OCI.”

About the Portland Culinary Alliance
The Portland Culinary Alliance was founded in 1987 by a group of Portland-based culinary professionals. The mission of the non-profit organization was to connect individuals working in the food industry. About Oregon Culinary Institute
OCI’s founders have been part of the Portland food scene collectively for more than 50 years. Both had a dream of starting a culinary institute that puts the students first. And that’s exactly what they did. Oregon Culinary Institute opened in 2006 with a team of like-minded restaurant industry and education professionals operating the school in a fair and ethical way, offering an education designed to enable graduates to immediately enter the workforce. OCI, a division of Pioneer Pacific College, remains Portland’s only independent and locally owned college-level culinary school. For more information, visit www.oregonculinaryinstitute.com.
