FAQs:

Below are a few frequently asked questions about PCA. If your question wasn’t answered, please contact us.

Who are your members?

Our members are comprised mostly of Portland and SW Washington locals. We have a wide range of members including cookbook authors, food bloggers, chefs, pastry chefs, culinary instructors, food photographers, caterers, culinary students, artisan vendors, publicists/marketing professionals supporting restaurants and food companies, and more!

Who can join PCA?

We welcome all members of the culinary industry, whether that means you are a full-time chef, food blogger, publicist representing restaurants, enthusiast, or anything in between.

Can I join if I don’t live in Oregon?

Yes! We have a discounted membership for those outside the Portland and SW Washington area. Read more on our Membership page.

How frequently do you have events?

PCA hosts monthly happy hours on the last Tuesday of each month. The location changes, but the date is always the same.

Other events such as cookbook author meet-n-greets, cooking classes, educational panels and tours are held at least once a month. Find out more about Events  on our home page or our Facebook page.

How do I sign up and how much does it cost?

Read more about the cost of membership and sign up today on our Membership page!

Where does my money go?

PCA is a non-profit organization and no board members are compensated for their time or hard work. That means your dues and program fees go directly to the programs you see. The money goes towards the cost of hosting events, rental fees, food/beverages provided at events, and a small portion goes towards administrative expenses such as maintaining this website and business registration.

I have a great food product/service/company/cookbook. Will you help me publicize it?

We love to support our members! Please send the details to us and we will share the information with the PCA membership.

What is the connection with the Portland Pastry Chefs Association?

In May 2014, the Portland Pastry Chefs Association was folded into the Portland Culinary Alliance with the goal of offering pastry chefs more networking opportunities and access to information on equipment, job postings, and sharing ideas. You can see this in action on the PCA Pastry Forum page where members collaborate, share tips and answer baking-specific questions.
