Job Title: Sensory Technician

Where: Western Family Foods - Tigard , Oregon

When:    Fulltime Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM.

Salary: $11-12/hr. + benefits package (medical, dental, vision, Rx, 401k w/match, pension)

Job Summary: The Sensory Technician conducts the sensory evaluation program and laboratory analysis program of grocery products.

Major Responsibilities:

Sensory Testing

•  Cooks or otherwise prepares products for sensory testing in test kitchen.

•  Prepares sensory test forms and test area.

•  Enters test data into a computer.

•  Performs statistical analysis (NCSS statistical program) and draws conclusions.

•  Types sensory test report (MS Word).

Analytical Laboratory Testing

•  Performs laboratory analyses according to established methodologies.

•  Writes laboratory test reports.

Job Skills:

•  Attention to detail.

•  Competent computer skills (Word, Excel)

•  Understand basic statistical concepts.

•  Operate kitchen and laboratory equipment.

•  Knowledge of food safety practices.

•  Good oral and written communication style.

Education/Experience: Some college or technical training would be useful. Training and/or experience in food science, home economics, chemistry, biology, or product testing would be transferable to this job.

House of White Birches has a cooking magazine that they are re-launching and they need an editor. The ideal situation would be someone willing to move to Indiana, but that is negotiable. They do have a new test kitchen and a stylist but need an editor.
